Okay here's how I fixed it, this assumes you have no On Your Mac calendars, so back those up ahead. Also backup any Mail account settings like extra email address aliases. Try this at your own risk.
After doing this, everything worked.
I have this problem too - iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) running Mojave 10.14.6 (18G8022)
As with the others, it's only a problem on my iMac and only a problem with my Gmail calendar.
No problems with other devices or other Gmail services.
I haven't tried fixing it - waiting for a consensus on a solution 😃
I did nothing to my three machines calendars who were all have this issue daily, and since last night about midnight EST, they have all behaved perfectly, updating and syncing once a min. and no errors. Still working flawlessly now almost 24 hrs later. I will probably jinx it by posting this message, but my guess is that Google and Apple have found the issue with the servers and fixed it. I do not think any of the "fixes" that have been posted and all the settings changes did anything at all to fix this problem. I think it was on their server side but intermittent and seemingly time of day related, and hopefully they have now fixed it.
One more follow up. It seems to me that Google/Apple have fixed the issue with no action needed on the user's part. I has been three days now since I last saw the error message on a Google Calendar in the Mac Calendar app. This is on all three of my Macs. Thank you to all who fixed this at the server end. I guess we will never hear a final, "Oh we found the issue and it was X and is fixed now" but well done anyway.
So has this been resolved yet? I upgraded to macOS 10.14.6 recently and now I get the same error and seems nothing is synching with calendar. Shows up on my phone calendar (thankfully for my business) but not my MacBook Air. PAINFUL
Finally! I've had problems with my Google calendars on macOS for years, and it become completely unusable with this persistent error under Big Sur. @David Drahos's solution FINALLY fixed it for me! I did it for both my Google accounts at the same time, and now things finally work. Thanks!
Have you found any solution?
I am facing exactly the same issue
I am having the same issue as well
I just recently started receiving this error, and I'm running MacOS 10.15.7, so perhaps it's not specific to 11.2.1. Oddly, events are still syncing, and propagating to both Mac and iPhone.
I'm in a CO-Working Studio and everyone on Mac's is having this exact same issue. Seems to be a common issue.
same here. not yet ready to go down the road of @daviddrahos but might get to that point if they can't resolve soon. what a cluster.
that is extremely drastic fix.. is something wrong with google vs. everyone's mac?
i just noticed it starting this evening.. maybe it's a DNS related issue where it's rotating to certain google servers that are not working.. i read others say the problem is transient.. hmm..
Same with me it's always at night, then when I come back in the morning its fine. Been happening the past couple days for me also
5 diff gmail accounts on this laptop.. GF has same issue with 3 accounts on her laptop..
I have followed your step, and then yes, the error disappeared and either all my events. I have been waiting for 3 hours but it did not sync anything. What should I do now :(
