Okay here's how I fixed it, this assumes you have no On Your Mac calendars, so back those up ahead. Also backup any Mail account settings like extra email address aliases. Try this at your own risk.
After doing this, everything worked.
Ugh...After touting the 11-step solution that David Drahos had suggested, my connection between Google and Calendar on my mac is failing again after roughly 11 hours of success. David's solution pretty much ditched everything having to do with Apple Calendar, including the Calendar itself, and begins with a clean slate. I don't see how this is fixable, without Apple's intervention, which is not happening.
I see only 2 options, for me anyway. 1) Use Google Calendar independently and forget about using Apple Calendar, or 2) Stop using Google Calendar entirely, and use Apple Calendar exclusively, with the help of iCloud to keep all devices synced and as backup protection.
I'd love to be wrong, and would welcome input. Thanks in advance.
I don't want to jinx myself, but I haven't seen the triangle with the arrow since the day after I did the Drahon solution. The first night after I did that, I didn't have any of my GCal appointments, but they came back the next day.
But some people have reported it on iPhone also and I haven't had that issue.
Yes! Flawless for me for 24 hours now. Almost 48, actually. This was a big problem for those of us, worldwide, who use Google Calendar with Apple Calendar. I'm grateful that the problem appears to have been fixed. It may have been the 11-step solution, first proposed by David Drahos, or it may have been Apple or Google fixing this. In any case, I will not soon forget Apple's reply to those of us who spent hours begging for their help, which was essentially to say 'not our problem; talk to Google' . (Their words were a bit more subtle than mine, but not much.) Has anyone in this discussion group every successfully reached Google for help?
I expect more from Apple in return for my loyalty to their products.
Same. I didn't try any of the fixes listed in this thread and it now seems stable. I don't really appreciate the lack of acknowledgement by Apple and/or Google, but glad fingers crossed that the "fix" is also not just a fluke.
Upon waking my computer this morning, Calendar was showing the error.
Interestingly, it was the only program with Dark Mode active. Dark Mode should have been off as it is set to auto (on at night, off during day). Then, when I pressed "Try Again" on the error message popup, Dark Mode was turned off for Calendar.
again, it appears to be a problem with the servers communicating, this problem/issues lie with top apple staff. I wish they would acknowledge this instead of telling all of us to do all these fixes and make the problem ours instead of theirs.
I agree - this is a Google problem. Some sort of passive aggressive anti-Apple thing - note that the iOS apps for all of the Google products haven't been updated for ages.
I have several Microsoft Office 365 calendar/email accounts and they work like a charm. Should have never migrated to Google from MS....
I am having same issue on M1 mac book pro big sur 11.2.2, intell mac book air 11.2.2, intel mac mini Catalina10.15.7. Have tried all the proposed fixes except the whole nuke the caches thing. Really don't want to do that. Please fix. this is major issue as I need to sync outlook, iCloud, and google calendars, and google has most of m person calendars.
I am also having this issue and it is infuriating. It started happening last month (February 2021) just like it seems like it started for everyone else here. I have deleted all my gmail calendars and reinstalled them and first it seemed like it was fixed and then it went back to the same problem again. :-( I hope it gets fixed soon.
I went through the steps David Drahos outlined. Gmail accounts (n=2) show in the sidebar after, but now none of the calendars are displayed. They're still visible in Gmail, though. At least the error popup stopped?
OK, so I'm on with Apple chat support and they are trying to be very helpful. But still don't seen to have a response from development or QA that they are following. They are having me do the usual reboot, load latest OS, etc.
So far 3 reps on chat haven't heard of this issue yet. Are you all registering this problem with Apple I hope :-)
I can confirm that the Dev team at Google is actively investigation this to pinpoint the cause. As soon as we hear back from them I'll post an update at https://support.google.com/calendar/thread/98473879?hl=en
Tonight I started getting the error triangle for server error at about 8pm EST and it seem to resolve on its own about 10pm EST. Last night it was a similar start time about 8p or 9p but it continued until I went to bed at about 12 midnight EST.
Hope this helps you guys track down the server issue.
Thanks.
Another up date on the server error times:
I have had error issues as discussed above for several weeks now. These seemed random and none of the fixes suggested worked, including Cache clearing. I did not notice times when it happens until a few days ago, so am starting to keep track. This is happening with three different macs on different hardware and OS X versions. They all go into error mode within a few min of each other.
Monday, 3/1/21 all ok day time, but errors started at about 8pm EST and continued to at least 12 mid.
Tuesday, 1/2/21 all ok all day from 7a to 8p EST, but errors again from 8p-10p. From 10p to 12m all ok again, then more errors at 12 midnight EST
Same problem, tried every trick mentioned (deleted Google accounts, deleted cookies, forced quit CalendarAgent in Activity Monitor, restarted, added accounts back in, etc). It worked yesterday but suddenly I have the same error again. WTF. I think I might just end up using a new calendar app.
If anyone knows of any free iCal alternatives with the same or even better capabilities, please let me know.
