Why no Garmin updater in the App Store. Is it ok to download it from Garmin.

I have used Garmin Express, available from Garmin's web site, to update multiple Garmin devices for many years, including nuvi Garmin navigation devices and others. Garmin Express is in widespread use. It is not a web app, you download and install it on your Mac and it runs locally. There are Garmin Discussion forums where you can interact with scores of other users doing the same thing. There are similar utilities from Fitbit and others for their devices as well.

We’re other users like you, and not Apple. And not Garman, in this case.

Apple doesn’t require apps be installed from the Mac App Store.

App developers can decide how and where and when to distribute Mac Apps.

If you download a Mac app directly from the Garman website, you’ll get what Garman makes available.

If this is some web app that updates your Garman device firmware, Safari doesn’t permit websites direct USB access.

If you have a particular device or question or issue or sequence as seems likely, some details there might help us research it.
