Ford SYNC 3 v3.4 and IOS Car Play issue

Seems I got both updates, SYNC 3 and iOS 14.5 (BETA), but the Apple Car play push tile on the vehicle display appears to be grayed out. The Vehicle display wont transition to the "Car Play" display that I was accustomed to in the previous version. it seems everything is going thru Bluetooth. Although I can get the App "WAZE" to display, but without being in a car play display, i am losing half the screen to standard audio/phone/settings/climate push tiles on the bottom and temp/time display banner at the top. Very frustrating. As I have been reading, seems SYNC 3 made several advances to android, and my assessment is they royal dropped car play. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using WAZE as an example, not only is the vehicle display cropped to half, but the phone [previously displayed the turn by turn display, not when WAZE is on the vehicle display, phone display is locked. if you swipe up to got to home screen or another opened app, the vehicle display goes blank, ugh. Then you must reopen WAZE and reset the cable, to get the WAZE push tile to appear in the bottom 1 inch of the displayed selections (Audio/phone/WAZE/settings). ok, I realize the displays become locked "For Safety" but the phone operator can or may be the passenger.

With Car Play "not functioning"

I have tried resetting the phone. I had removed all phones from SYNC 3. I have reset the SYNC 3 system. I have removed all carplay systems from the iOS settings. removed the vehicle from Bluetooth. with all those resets/removals, reinstalled the iPhone XS MAX to SYNC 3, and Viola, nothing changed.

I have tried different cords/cables, but I am pretty certain its not the cable as I have to reset the cable every time I make updates to WAZE.
