Former employee's macbook pro has file vault enabled + no other admin account.

Is there a way to create a new admin account and access the data \ recover the data? Command and r brings up the recovery console, but the utilities option is not present.

Command and s does not bring up the utility to create the admin account.

Am I: An inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder?

Without the FileVault password, there is not much you can do.


It encrypts all the data.

Unless you get the password or recovery key somehow. you have to erase the entire disk to be able to use the mac.

The purpose of Filevault is to prevent unauthorized access .
