No. The 6 is not capable of running anything higher than iOS 12.

There is no connection between what version of iOS it can run and your SIM. If you're having problems with your SIM, get a replacement SIM from your carrier. The SIM is what connects your phone to their network.

Thanks for responding, but your answer is confusing. I'm not sure what you mean by is that the entire message? Can you address the RAM question of whether I can free up or add more RAM to update beyond 12.5.1? And, I've never had an indication or any other information about SIM cards. I've owned this iPhone for over 5 years, and never had any message about SIM cards, nor have I received any such message before the last iPhone 6 update to 12.5.1. Apple Support promises to call, then Apple Support claims to have called, but I don't receive a call, or do I find any evidence of any call to me from Apple Support. Apple Support always sends a email with the FALSE CLAIM that they tried to call me and could not reach me. I am always careful to be available when Apple Support claims they will call, but Apple Support doesn't call - they pretend and then send a false email notices. I am a Senior Citizen and I don't want to be exposed to COVID19! for a few simple answers to my questions. Apple Support does not GIVE A **** about me, my iPhone, my HEALTH or anything for "the LITTLE GUY"! So, I have no choice and must make an appointment for Support in-store after wasting time playing their FAKE SUPPORT game. Apple Support falsely claims to have done so, follow-up and keep their appointments , so I have made an appointment to go physically to the Apple Store to discuss this problem.

Hi

You can't free up ram. You can't add ram. The hardware of your phone will not support IOS greater than 12.5.1

The comments about sim cards were because you said in your first post that you get "no sim card installed" message. That means either that your sim card is faulty, or your phone is faulty (or you haven't put a sim card in it) - it is most likely the sim card that is faulty and your service provider can supply a replacement.

If apple try to call on your phone and the sim card is not working, then they will not get through - because your phone can't operate as a phone without the sim card.

My apologies, I thought you know more about phones than you do. No, neither system RAM nor flash storage can be increased on an iPhone other than buying a newer model with more of each.

Earlier I asked if No SIM card was the entire message. Was it or something longer? If it was just that then either the SIM card has failed (it happens) or the SIM reader has failed. Try a new SIM fro your cell service provider that could fix that issue. If not it is going to be a hardware failure on the iPhone and I would strongly suggest just buying a newer phone.

As far as Apple not calling you I'm guessing they are not showing up in your recent calls? Have you checked with your service provider to see if they can find the calls in their system?

Again, my apologies for the flippant comment.
