Upgrading my iPad Air2

I love my iPad, it 128g and everything I need and use. However, it does not have Touch ID and can no longer update software.

Spending $800 plus to buy a new iPad is not possible. Is their a way to upgrade my old iPad?

Am almost 81 years old and we used to add more memory and such to computers. So stop laughing.

I want Touch ID like my iPhone and newer software because apps are starting to not accept my software any longer.

Your help is immensely appreciated,

Dear Dialabrain,

I bought my iPad used along with two other iPad Air 2’s for my DIL and my granddaughter in New Zealand. Their iPads were fine. I even called Apple when I couldn’t Iinstall the fingerprint thing. Gave them the model and serial numbers. All they said was it was an earlier model. Never did get it that it was NOT an iPad Air2 at alll until I checked ABOUT after your message. There it was in living color, not really, iPad Air, period. I am guessing a fingerprint thing and later software cannot be added. Bummer!

Thank you heaps! Now I need to figure out what to get. If you have suggestions, I would be doubly grateful!

I make it a practice not to make purchasing recommendations. What I will say is any current iPad will outperform what you currently own. I would check Apple's site and see what fits your budget.

If you in fact have an iPad Air 2 it can be upgraded to iPadOS 14.4. Open Settings > General > Software Update.
