My wife’s MacBook Pro is about 6 years old. She hasn’t used it in 3 years. I turned it on but it was corrupt so I erased the hard drive to go back to factory settings but now I cannot install OS X as I’m being told there is no eligible package fir install. Any ideas or have I a useless piece of hardware?

Hi,

How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

If it doesn't help, make Genius Bar reservation if your neighborhood retail Apple Store is open or find nearby opened Apple Authorized Service Provider to install macOS there. It's free.
