memoji on ipad 6th generation - only get stickers - Apple says cam effects are supported

Hello,

A friend of mine just showed me Memojis on her iPhone today and I have been trying to figure out how to get them to work on my 6th Gen iPad with iPad OS (IOS 14) but all I get are the stickers not the full face effects. I have done some research on here and I am getting conflicting information. Apple states that the 6th gen and later iPads support camera effects. My iPad is 6th gen and I bought it with the maximum everything that was available at the time it came out, so it is not one of the bottom of the line models by any means.

I have seen postings that say 6th gen iPads only support stickers but I have a list that is issued not by a community member but rather by Apple themselves that says camera effects ARE supported.

So, color me confused.......Any insight would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Wonder Woman

iPad, iPadOS 14

To use animated Memoji/Animojis, you need an iPad with a front facing True Depth FaceID camera, like the ones found on the iPhone X and later and the 2018/2020 iPad Pro models.

A base model iPad 6th, 7th and 8th generation iPad models have no such True Depth Face ID cameras.

There maybe other non-memoji/animoji effects that your iPad model can do that FaceTime Effects refer to.

Like adding an image filter or adding text to your FaceTime calls.

You should see what these are when making a FaceTime call.
