Magic Keyboard Numpad EU: swap comma for period?

Hi, I'm using a magic keyboard with numpad bought here last month (jan '21) in the Netherlands. It has a key under the '3' with both a period and a comma underneath it. The period appears when I strike it in any application I'm using, but I want the comma. I've already tried all the various options suggested in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250011019?page=2 System prefs are set for European number formats and date and time. I've tried ABC-extended, Netherlands, and Danish keyboards (the latter is not ideal if you don't use the ø and æ), restarting after reset. I've tried combination keystrokes and invesstigated keyboard shortcuts. Nothing works. Using Catalina (latest update) and a MacBook Pro 2015. I found this coding advice on a stackexchange board - think it will work? Prefer not to add an app just to reprogram one key (Karabiner). https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/229509/apple-keyboard-remap-keypad-comma-to-dot

Thanks.

Hi Tom and Eric - "Type in another language" solved my problem. I had not switched to the Dutch flag in the input menu. For me switching languages was not intuitive for a numbers thing. Thanks!

I don't have a keyboard with a numpad, but when I examine the Dutch keyboard layout with keyboard viewer, which does show the numpad, it has comma as the default under the 3, and you have to use Shift or Option to get period. Using my mouse on the keyboard viewer numpad produces comma as it is supposed to.

What do you see in Keyboard Viewer with the Dutch flag showing in the top right of the screen?

Hey macsince1986,

We'd like to help go over this with you. We underhand wanting to manage how your keyboard works with your preferred language.

Since you have already checked these other steps, using an alternate app would be an option. From what we are seeing, it seems that this is expected with the language and keyboard you are using.

Try to Type in another language on your Mac with input sources

Create keyboard shortcuts for apps on Mac as another way to make a change to what you are seeing.

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers
