Log in issues after Macbook Air update to Catalina and Sur

Hi All,

Appreciate if you could share any advice that could help. I updated my macbook air to catalina and big sur. After the download was done, I was asked to restart. After it restarted, I was never able to reach the log in page. On the attached images is where I got stuck, after taking around 2 hours to reach the notification that there is an error with the software update. Could you please help if you faced the same or similar issue? Thank you!!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

@pixy10 welcome on this boat "the users help the users". The problem you have is not a login issue but rather

a MacOS upgrade failure.

To help anyone to help you, were you trying to perform an upgrade toward Catalina or toward Big Sur?

During this very long upgrade process, was your MacBook Air on power supply and on a stable network connection?

By a stable network connection, I mean not a 4G one but rather a Wi-Fi one without troubles.

I would like to understand correctly what happened to your multiple upgrade. You cannot do an upgrade to Catalina and Big Sur because these are 2 different major versions of MacOS

Did you perform an upgrade toward Catalina and next an upgrade from Catalina toward Big Sur?

Did your upgrade toward Catalina terminated correctly?

How much free space was then remaining on your internal disk?
