How do I get my old messages back

Are you referring to Messages in iCloud? If so, then you'd want to follow the steps to restore the message history using the steps here: Use Messages in iCloud Keep in mind, you'll need to know your iCloud username and the password, along with enabling iCloud Keychain to accomplish this.

If you still can't get your older messages back using Messages in iCloud, then you may have backed them up using iCloud separately: What does iCloud back up?
