Logic 10.6.1 Import Audio Align Bars and Beats

I recently updated to 10.6.1 and noticed that a feature I've used in 10.5.1 no longer works as it did. I have my Project Tempo Mode set to Keep and Set Imported Audio Files to: On + Align Bars and Beats. When I drag an MP3 audio (complete song) file into a track, Logic 10.6.1 analyses the file but totally fails to identify the transients and beat grid correctly. Why am I doing this? Well, to quantize entire songs that should be perfect timing but has been ripped from vinyl so often wander a bit and to create some samples I can use in my DJ sets. Here's an example of what I see:

This is a vinyl rip of (wait for it) Male Stripper by Man 2 Man Meet Man Parrish which has a rock solid kick drum near the beginning of the song but 10.6.1 analyses this as 6 beats in every bar and therefore believes the tempo is 82bmp (so 2/3 of what it should be, around 131bpm). Now I know this song was recorded with a real drummer hence the timing is a little off in places. 10.5.1 analyses this perfectly and nails the tempo and transients without me having to fix anything. 10.6.1 behaves very differently as the image above shows.

Am I missing something really obvious in 10.6.1 or something else? Thanks in advance for any help!
