Downloading Mac OS High Sierra to my MacBook Air (2013)

I keep getting messages to download this latest software update but the results say "unsuccessful".

I'm wondering if the computer is too old or if my 4GB is not enough space for the download.

The title of your post suggests that you are trying to download macOS High Sierra.

But yo say you are getting messages to download this latest software, what software is this.

Is this message about macOS Big Sur which is the mac most recent Operating System.

In order to install this operating system you need to have at least 35.5GBS of free space on your disk.

Before you upgrade to macOS Big Sur you really need to research how it will impact how you use your mac.

If you are considering upgrading to Catalina or Big Sur be warned they do not support 32bit apps.

Your Mac is probably running 32bit apps and these will need to be updated to 64bit apps,

some updates may be free, some may be paid. Use this app to discover which apps you have

are 32bit, https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/ then contact the developers of the software to see

if they are offering 64bit updates.

If you are running your mac with as little freee space as 4GBs then you run the risk of themas completely locking up

and becoming unusable. It is generally accepted in normal running conditions to keep at least 20GBs of free space

on your disk so the mac can do its housekeeping and disk management.
