Health sleep data - not including REM sleep from Garmin -

Hi, Apple health isn’t pulling REM sleep data from Garmin Connect. Eg last night REM starting 309am and 528am are not recorded as sleep in Apple sleep record. (Screenshots show whole Garmin record and what apple recorded of this morning’s REM sleep periods. I’ve seen this problem reported before but haven’t seen a fix or workaround (?). The impact for me is huge as sleep is a major factor affecting health condition management and the inaccurate (incomplete) data makes Apple Health sleep record useless to me, makes the complete health dataset much less useful being unable to look at relationships with other factors, and means I can’t benefit from allowing other apps to write from Apple Health sleep data which would otherwise be a great benefit to have happening automatically (eg Migraine Buddy). If anyone knows a way to get around this in the absence of the fix that’s clearly needed, please help! Thank you!

Hello cafewriter3,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that your Garmin Connect app isn't sharing sleep data with the Apple Health app on your iPhone. We would recommend taking a look at the following support article from the Garmin Support Center on what info is shared with Apple Health app and how to enable/disable sharing:

What Garmin Connect Information Can Be Shared With Apple Health?

If you continue to have issues with the Garmin Connect app not sharing data with Apple Health, we would recommend reaching out to Garmin Support for additional assistance.

Best regards.

Thanks Jeremy. This doesn’t explain why REM sleep is not passed to Apple while the other sleep data. I’d I allow my sleep analysis to be written to Apple, I clearly expect ALL the sleep analysis to appear in Apple. Is anyone else able to weigh in? This has nothing to do with user settings but something on the technical end of the data parsing. Neither Apple nor Garmin seem willing to investigate despite this causing problems for users of both. While ideally I’d like the problem to be solved (obviously), it would also help if there’s discussion somewhere acknowledging that there is a technical problem and explaining why neither Apple nor Garmin are able to fix it.
