I can’t draw a straight line with the ruler in a PDF in Apple Notes.

I’m trying to mark up a PDF file I have open in Apple Notes. I can draw shapes and write on the PDF with both my finger (when I enabled it) and the Apple Pencil. However, when I select the ruler to draw a straight line, the line doesn’t snap to the ruler like it does in a picture or a Note.

Scribble feature for Pencil doesn’t work any longer in Note Feature no longer works—doesn’t convert to typed text. Immediately a popup for markup which let’s you select type of drawing and use Pencil but this is not the Scribble feature “Use Apple Pencil to handwrite in any text area to convert it into type.” Only option is to use in Markup / as a Drawing. Works in Reminder and actually here. iPadIOS 15.2

Draw shape in notes after iPadOS update to 14.2 I recently bought an Apple Pencil 1st gen. I recall when trying it out, drawing a geometric shape that transformed into a uniform shape with straight edges. I have just updated to os 14.2. having just gone on to learn how to use the pencil with Notes. I now find I cannot draw a regular shape with straight edges as previously. Am I missing something or have I got it wrong?

using scribble with Notes app is too unpredictable. Has anybody figured out or found a reliable way to use scribble or the Apple pencil? 1) in the notes app the Apple Pencil randomly decides to start a new paragraph in the middle of a sentence. And there is no way to bring the cursor back to a previous line without opening the keyboard. 2) there is no way to start a new line, while writing this post. 3) placing the cursor in a specific location, is no guarantee scribble will continue from that specific location.

Using a 2015/2016 iPad Pro runnng iPadOS 14.4

I did a test in Apple Notes with a 27 page PDF in the iOS Notes app, the ruler worked just fine for drawing straight and angled lines without an issue.

Snapped to any location I placed the virtual ruler at.
