do i have to connect iPhone to mac to restore it

I'm trying to restore my iPhone!! I don't have the charging cord with me can i restore the iPhone with it sitting next to my air mac pro laptop?

You cannot restore a backup from your computer without using the cable. If you are restoring an iCloud backup then you don't need to connect to the computer, but unless the device is fully charged it would be unwise to start the process. Running out of power mid-restore would not be a good move.
