"Assign to This Desktop" not working in Big Sur

I've assigned my apps to open in different desktops but my choice is only remembered for the first time I open the app.

However after I close an app and then open it again, instead of opening in the assigned desktop (e.g. desktop 4), it would open randomly in an another desktop.

I tried to reassigned each apps to open in my preferred desktops but it doesn't fix the issue.

I didn't have this problem with the previous OS and it looks like this is a bug in Big Sur that needs to be fixed.

By the way, I did a clean install of Big Sur (not an upgrade from Catalina) and currently running OS X11.2.1.

I don't use this feature much, but I tried assigning a few applications to different desktops. I quit and restarted these applications a few times, and in the tests I did they all respected the assigned desktops.

Maybe there is something in your system that is causing this to fail.

Try testing in a different account and see if the problem also occurs.
