Bootcamp crashing after driver download

Recently I downloaded windows onto my iMac and everything went well and I was able to launch everything. This was until I realized I didn't have any sound. I found that I had to download the Bootcamp drivers. I did exactly this and the sound began working. About 30 seconds later it crashed and every time I relaunch it just freezes and then crashes. I was able to restore it to the point before I downloaded drivers and it began working. I then proceeded to download the drivers once again and the error happened again. I assume this problem is due to an error with the drivers. Has anyone had similar problems? Were there any fixes?

Does Windows keep crashing, or are you able to run any commands? If it is stable for a bit, run msinfo32 and post the value of BIOS Mode.

A 2012 Mac uses legacy BIOS, while a 2017 Mac does not. Audio issues are not just related to missing drivers, but also the mode of Windows installation.
