Mac speed
My 2010 IMac has speeds of 94mbps, while my 2017 iPad shows speeds of 440mbps. Is IMac just too old?

it depends on the wifi speed version and or ethernet version of the imac if connected by that

Imac's are not like old PC's that have cards, the Ethernet connection is part of the main logic board and is not replaceable or upgradeable. If you require faster speeds it is time for a new 2020 27" iMac which has an option of upgrading to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet connection.
WiFi is router Netgear3000, with 450Mbps on iPad, n IMac is hardwired showing 94mbps
I was told the iMac computer cannot handle any more than 100mbps because of the Ethernet card, tbase100TX. Need to replace card or computer itself as it is outdated. Yes??
