WhatsApp photo file names

I am busy with a huge photo project and have noticed that when I save photos from WhatsApp to my camera roll (both automatic and manual saving have same result) the file name appear completely random and very long, for example 26c775cb-535e-454a-9874-e50874a43e3d.JPG

I think this is something new, as I’m pretty sure that file names used to be in the format IMG_0001.JPG

Can anybody help me with this?

My iPhone saves photos taken by the camera sequentially, following the format IMG_0001.JPG with ascending numeration. How to fix unwanted JPG to TIFF conversion of clipboard Picture on website: JPG of 223K, copy & paste into iMessage: it has exploded into a TIFF no less than 34.3MEGAbyte in size. Why the very much unwanted format conversion instead of leaving it like it is? The way around it is to first save it as a JPG and then drag the JPG into iMessage but that represents a massive impact on usability where even Microsoft Windows does it better. This appears to be a long outstanding problem (I've found posts going back to 2009 about this) but has anyone come up with a solution since? I have sent Apple feedback, but given that this apparently has been outstanding for well more than a decade I don't have high hopes of a fix any time soon.. Device: Mac mini M1, MacOS Ventura 13.1

iPhoto is adding a string of unwanted numbers to my photos, why? And how can I get rid of them? I am trying to send photos to a site called Trekearth but Trekearth keeps putting up a notice saying no more than 15 characters allowed.Upon inspecting the photos I find that my MacBook Air has added a huge string of characters to the photos and I can not find out how to remove them.The added characters appear pale grey.The Windows system does not do this but I have to use my Windows machine to overcome this. I bought the MacBook as I thought it looked to be excellent for photographers.
