video chat network drop

Whenever I use video chat services I experience intermittent network drops that are machine wide. This can happen 30 seconds into a meeting, 45 min into a meeting or anywhere in between.

The entire network goes out - video conference fails, web browsing fails. I have tried multiple networks both on wifi and hardlined.

During the outages on my MacBook Pro my network is still actively working on other devices and I can browse the internet on a different computer fine.

I have moved over to using my iPad Pro for video conference calls because the macbook connection is so unreliable. The iPad Pro has no issues for any duration of video call - furthering my belief that this is a macbook issue and not a network related issue.

This happens on multiple video conference applications like Teams, Slack, or BlueJeans.

Any ideas how to get a stable connection for video meetings?

Hi there chrismas324,

We understand you're experiencing some intermittent network issues that are resulting in interruptions with video chat services. The following page offers guidance on using Wireless Diagnostics to troubleshoot and isolate this type of behavior: Use Wireless Diagnostics on your Mac

If issues are found, the tool will provide suggestions to help you resolve them. If no issue is found at the time the test is run, you can allow it to monitor your connection, so when an issue is found a report is created.

We hope this helps!
