Re-setting up iCloud email on Kindle Fire

To troubleshoot an apparent recent problem with my iCloud email on my Fire HD 10 i nuked the entire email config on the tablet following an Amazon tech's directions. Then I set up my icloud email as i normally do on non-Apple devices. I have 2-factor authentication and an app-specific password (the same one that let me read my iCloud email on my Fire for the last few years. Except this time it's not setting up because of a certificate mismatch.

Double checked settings and Advanced Setting with same error. Probably hit OK three dozen times with no success.

Deleted old app-specific password and created a new one. Same response. Waited 24 hours to see if something had to propagate but still the same failure.

Checked similar posts in the forums like:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8523015

and re-read all the referenced articles. Still the same blockage.

There was a system update pushed onto the Fires a few weeks ago and that was when i started having troubles with reading my iCloud email on it.

Has anyone found a way around this other than buying us iPads instead of Fires?

Hello Notary Sojak,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We see you're receiving a certificate error when trying to add an iCloud email account to your Amazon Kindle. We're happy to do what we can to help out.

Looking at the System requirements for iCloud, we're not seeing that an Android device is listed. Are you using the Outlook app?

Have you tried using the browser to sign into the iCloud website? You should be able to use the Mail app within the iCloud website.

Web-only access to iCloud has the information you'll need.

Take care!

Hi Notary Sojak,

Thanks for the reply and additional information, we appreciate it!

The Web-only access to iCloud article we provided, has a section which shows which browsers are compatible. Unfortunately, Silk isn't shown as one of them. "iCloud.com supports the latest versions of Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Opera."

We're not familiar with the Kindle Fire, and if it can download different browsers. Check with the manufacturer to see if any are compatible.

Another idea, send Apple some feedback about adding Fire OS browser support, as they read all submissions. Product Feedback

Select iCloud > iCloud to get started.

We wish you the very best. Have a great weekend too!
