Auto capitalization not working

Hi, I just got my Macbook Air M1 but what bothers me is the auto capitalization is not working. I made sure that it was turned on on the keyboard settings. Tried notes, some apps but nothing is working. Double space for a period is working though.

Just wondering if anyone experienced this and how can i fix this? thank you.

I just started composing an email to myself as a test, autocapitalize works perfectly for me. Two <space bar> for the end of sentence then follow with lower case for the start of the new sentence and it automatically corrects to upper. I’m sure you have found the relevant settings because it is just above auto-period (I have all 3 checkboxes set). The only thing I can suggest is try turning them off, then exit the settings dialog, go back in and set them on again to force rewriting your preference.
