Can Anyone Sign out of the TV Provider on ATV4??

Can any ATV4 user sign-out of the TV Provider field in Settings>Users and Accounts>TV Provider>Sign-out?


I recently changed my provider from Sling TV to TVision — T-Mobile’s new TV provider service. The number of online TV providers is growing every month.


While it was easy to enter TVision as my new TV provider on the iPhone 11, I cannot sign out of Sling TV on my ATV4 to make the change. Nothing happens when I click Settings>Users and Accounts>TV Provider>Sign-out. 


The instructions in the ATV4 Settings and in the Apple TV User Guide for tvOS 14.3 (excerpts below) clearly say signing out should be simple. I’m trying to figure out whether it is a tvOS flaw, a Sling TV flaw or a corruption of some sort in my installation. I have not been able to sign out whether in tvOS 14.3 or 14.4.

It turns out the reason the TV provider could not be changed was because under Restrictions I had TV Provider set to Restrict (Settings>General> Restrictions>TV Provider).


Normally, when you set anything in Restrictions to  Block or Restrict, then try to access that function elsewhere in Settings or an app, a window pops up to enter your 4-digit Restrictions Code. That does not happen for TV Provider. However, as soon as I turned off the TV Provider restriction, I was able to change providers.


I sent Apple some feedback to point out the oversight in tvOS 14.x.

We understand that you are experiencing issues deactivating the single sign-on feature of your Apple TV.

Are you getting an error message when you attempt to sign out?

Also, is your Apple TV connected to the internet?
