automatic updates not working & feature requests
Why are apps and iOS updates not occurring at night when everything is set to automatically do so? On chargers, not in use and on WiFi. Regardless it’s also set to always allow on cellular as well.
it would be a nice feature to be able to setup an update schedule to force checking for app and iOS updates and install. Because it is not working on any iOS device automatically like it’s supposed to. iPad, iPad Pro, iPhone, watch, name it. It’s just not working. Every night before I go to bed I have to manually check for app updates in the App Store on every iOS device I have, my parents have, and tell my friends and family to do the same. And in the morning, because there are more released by the time I wake up. Just as an example, my mom has an iPad with the latest iOS version that has been connected to WiFi and on the charger for a few days that hasn’t been used but this morning I manually checked for app updates and what do you know there are 35 updates?
why is this not working automatically like it’s supposed to? My mom is getting upset when an app stops working on her XR and wonders why she can’t get Amazon to work. I have her manually check for updates and what do you know there are 25 updates, including the app she is trying to use. During the middle of the day. After she Updates All, everything is fine. She is not tech savvy. So you can imagine her frustration.
I can understand a single or a few apps being skipped if say an app requires some new permissions or a terms of use change that has to have manual intervention but that’s not the case. Am I missing a setting or something? Does the device have to be unlocked for this to occur? That would be strange because An icloud backup requires it to be locked for a backup to occur. None of this is working.
iOS update notifications are not working either.
this is not just about frustration, but this is a security issue as well.
updates should be applied as soon as possible automatically, or delayed if in use. Period. But you should get a notification at least that there are updates available, do you want to do it now or wait until your device is not in use?
simple. Easy fix. Microsoft figured this out, pretty much anyway, why can’t you? Come on Apple, what’s the deal?
Also it would be nice to add the ability to clear device cache for all apps or selected apps. Not passwords or say stored data like your health data, skip that. And also setup a say an automatic reboot/ maintenance schedule as well. Clear temp, cache, any data you want then reboot the device, check for app, iOS updates, install all, you name it. ... if you choose to do so. And not have to rely on 3rd party apps to do such things.
you know this would correct a lot of issues that don’t need to happen.
thanks
