Airpods won’t react to ‘hey Siri’ anymore

I used to be able to be away from my phone and say ‘hey siri, shuffle music’ for example, and I would hear the Siri detection beeps, and then it would carry out my request. However I now think somethings wrong with my airpod’s microphone as when I say hey Siri now nothing happens when they’re in my ears, similarly when I answer a phone call or messenger call the person cannot hear me when I have them in, I have to take them out to take the call. However I didn’t change any settings or anything. I’ve googled what to make sure is checked or unchecked in settings and it’s all correct already so I don’t know what else to try. Thanks

Hello,

Try this:

Open the Settings app and go to the Bluetooth section. Next to the AirPods entry on the list of devices, you should see an “i” icon inside of a circle. Tap this, then select microphone, and set it to either left, right or automatic. Try switching it back and forth.

Then, test with the Voice Memos app.
