What is the model year of your iMac (from Apple menu > About This Mac). It can be upgraded beyond 10.13.6 if it is a 2012 or later.

Reply with the model year or see the following: if 2014 or later -- How to upgrade to macOS Big Sur - Apple Support

or if not, see Catalina in How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support

If you don't want to upgrade, another option is to use Turbo Tax Online. It is very good and will run on very old versions. See: https://turbotax.intuit.com/
