Trackball problem

About a month ago, my left Logitech bluetooth trackball button stopped working to attach or insert a file, as when I want to attach something to an email, which I do a lot. Otherwise it works perfectly. The only way to correct this is to reboot the Mini. Switching to my Logitech bluetooth mouse, I get the same issue. I've tried using a different USB port on the Mini....no change. A reboot fixes the problem for a few days only. Since a reboot fixes it, my guess is that it's an issue with this late 2012 Mini. Thoughts? Thanks.

Hello dgerety,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're experiencing issues with 2 devices connected to your Mac, both of which are 3rd party devices. You mentioned the trackpad seems to not work when you want to attach or insert a file. Do you find this only happens when working in the Mail app? Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the trackball? If not, that's a good place to start. Since this is a Bluetooth device, you may also want to rule out interference as causing this issue, Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference. Is there any chance you have another trackpad you can test with your Mac, to help isolate which device is at fault?

Regarding your mouse, since this device has a wired connection and you've tested different USB ports previously, it would be a good idea to test an alternative mouse with your Mac, as well as test your mouse with a different computer.

Keep us posted on how it's going.

Best regards.
