How to copy files from Win10 to iPad

Trying to copy files from my Windows 10 PC to my iPad Air 4th gen, in this situation, pictures.

While I can see the data in 100APPLE folder, I can't copy files into it. Am I missing something?

Note: I am not installing iTunes. Ever.

iPad Air, iPadOS 14

Your PC will not be able to directly access and browse the iPad’s encrypted file system; without iTunes being installed on your PC, you will only see the DCIM folder whilst iPad is connected and unlocked.

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer files to your iPad, if iTunes is unacceptable, would be iCloud for Windows:

Download iCloud for Windows – Apple Support

Set up and use iCloud for Windows – Apple Support

Nobody here can offer any assistance as to jailbreaking your iPad. This subject is explicitly forbidden by the Terms of Use that govern participation within these Support Communities.

What can be said is that you will be very unwise to consider jailbreaking your device. You will (a) remove fundamental security protections - and (b) will immediately and irrevocably lose all support from Apple and these Communities. Nobody will help you.

I have one remaining suggestion, but comes with a cost - iMazing:

That's also not ideal, because that uses ISP bandwidth, which, unless I pay extra, has a limit.

Seems there's some third party apps that can help (namely ones that set up a wifi server to your ipad), but they're either not 100% free (freemium isn't ideal either) or have ads.

Was really hoping to just plug directly into my computer and drag and drop the files I want directly into the file system. Not sure how best to accomplish that.

Edit: looks like jailbreaking it will allow me to do what I want, I'm system admin, not Joe Shmoe, so it's a bit irritating I can't just move stuff where I want to because you need to "Have an App For That". (https://oleb.net/blog/2012/06/steve-jobs-on-the-file-system/) What if the app stinks? What if the app isn't updated? What if it's not free? Very irritating. For the record, not sure that I'd actually end up jailbreaking, just trying to find alternate solutions.

Yeah I looked into iMazing but was turned off by the price. I only have a single iPad, and I only have it for the app Procreate. Maybe I'd want to read some .cbr comics or .epub/.mobi files but $45 for two devices is about double the price I'm willing to pay for something I should be able to do with a USB cable.

In any case, I said I likely wouldn't, rather, just weighing my options. The support is a bonus, though, I could not care less about removing security protections, as I'm a power user, I don't like it when things get in my way lol
