AFTER UPGRADE TO IOS 14.4 COULD NOT SEND EMAIL. RECEIVES EMAIL OK. AFTER A SEND ATTEMPT GET FOLLOWING MESSAGE. THE SMTP SERVERis not responding.
Check entered correct information in the outgoing mail server field.

Checked and rechecked. Deleted mail account and restored. ALL NO HELP.

Then you will need to contact the email provider directly to ensure you are using the correct settings for their account. If it is not connecting, there is an issue, and if it has problems with SSL, then it has to be using some other type of security. If you can find something online for the settings for this twc server, you may be able to change the settings yourself. Are you sure that the SMTP is not smtp.twc.com? Most SMTP servers start with smtp, at least my Comcast account does. That may be where the error lies. Otherwise, if you find the correct settings, go into Settings>Mail>Accounts>then select the individual account, tap on Account again, then go down and tap on the SMTP server. Under Primary Server it should appear and you can make settings changes after tapping on it again.
Remove the email account from the phone, power the iPhone off and back on again, then add the email account back. When adding it, make sure that all settings verify and test it. The SMTP server is what sends mail, and it can stop responding for a number of reasons. Removing the account and adding it back again is the easiest fix.
Thanks for your new twist to solving the outgoing email problem by powering the iphone off before restoring the email account. Tried it.
Unfortunately the problem still exists. Able to receive mail but unable to send email. The SMTP mail.twc.com is not responding. Could this problem have come in with the 14.4 upgrade ?
I have not tried installing in the POP protocol as Spectrum directs use of IMAP. The iphone also indicates it cannot connect using SSL. It will not connect with SSL off.
