Behringer X32 and Logic Pro Integration for Recording
I am a new Logic Pro user. We use the Behringer X32 board as the heart of our church sound system. I have watched YouTube videos and read articles and forums to understand how to integrate the X32 board with Logic Pro running on my MacBook Pro. The goal is to record from the board direct to SSD hard drive through Logic Pro. I *think* this is possible but I keep running into a couple of serious issues.
Since I am after recording live tracks only, (I'll do some post-production work with the tracks) I do not need to run the Logic Pro output back to the X32. So, the first issue is that I cannot figure out how to hear what is being recorded through headphones connected to the MacBook Pro.
The second and more serious problem is that I cannot seem to record more than one track without the computer stopping because the "Disk is too slow or System Overload." I've tried to configure the software preferences to avoid this, but so far it hasn't made a difference.
I also read that it works best to record the Logic Pro files to a separate external drive, other than the drive where the application resides. I have a boot SSD drive in this MacBook, and a separate SSD drive in it as well, but I can't seem to record to that drive.
MacBookPro8,1
Intel Core i7
2.7 Ghz
1 process with 2 cores
16GB RAM
MacOS 10.13.6
Boot Drive = 1TB SSD
2nd internal drive = 240GB SSD
Logic Pro v10.4.8
I/O Buffer = 32
Processor Buffer = Medium
It seems very weird to me that this live recording doesn't work, when I can plug a small 8GB USB drive into the X32 and it will record 2 tracks in stereo to that device without any issues. Why wouldn't a much more high-powered laptop computer with SSD drives and great software not be able to handle more than one track?
Does anyone have experience with this, or have ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Are my expectations not realistic?
