My login screen says system administrator and I can’t log in

I remember the password I chose for the second user but then, my MacBook Pro shut off. Now it just says system administrator and I tried the password I picked when I was making the second user and it didn’t work!!! I don’t know what to do 😭 please help!!

System Administrator is the root user. Someone, hopefully you, has enabled the root account. You can disable it from Directory Utility.


Are you able to reboot the computer after doing a hard boot (holding the power button down for 10 seconds?) If so, you should be able to log in normally and disable the root user in Directory Utility:
