Are the base stands the same size for the different 27" iMac models

Physically they are the same size, however 2012 and later iMacs do not have detachable stands. They are part of the chassis. If you are looking for a VESA mount there are some available but they are not very elegant. In short if you want a VESA mount for a later model iMac you need to order the computer with a VESA mount, Apple makes this option available on their website when ordering an iMac.
