Apple ID

My wife and I use the same Apple ID. We both receive each other’s photos, which is clogging up my phone. I now have a new phone and want a new Apple ID, but don’t want to lose my photos and contacts. Is this possible?

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes.

Hello sejpreece,

Possible (mostly) but not easy.

Look into using Family Sharing to continue to be able to use items purchased with one Apple ID with other Apple IDs.
