Iphone recovery mode software

I have a iphone 11 that was given to me. It said disabled and to connect to iTunes. I have completed all the steps to restore the phone so that I can use it for myself but the download has taken forever to load. I’ve even just put the phone in to recovery mode where the screen is blank. I have also followed the steps in deleting the previous iPhone software found in Finder so this new download would go faster but that didn’t seem to work either.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 14

Nope. Not at all. It would earlier. It would say like 9 hours etc. but then the phone would disconnect itself and go back to connect to iTunes screen. So I would do the steps all over again and the same thing kept happening. That’s when I put the phone in recovery mode then deleted my software file so that a new one could be downloaded (that’s what apple support page said to do) and now it’s just the same screen.
