Apple Music and My Subscription

Why is it that, when I canceled my subscription for Apple Music, all of my music that was downloaded was erased?

Hello,

Change your subscription from Apple --> https://support.apple.com/HT204939

This link used to specifically refer to Apple Music but now refers to all of Apple's subscription offerings. The things below used to be stated clearly in previous versions of this document:

- " Turn off automatic renewal and your membership will finish at the end of the current subscription period."

- "If you cancel Apple Music, you'll lose access to the Apple Music catalog, any music that you added to your Library, and the features of Apple Music when your current subscription period ends."

- "If you cancel during your trial period, you’ll lose access to the catalog and features of Apple Music immediately."

Now you have to dig deep down into the legal documents: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/us/terms.html where you will find, "When your Paid Subscription to any Service ends, you will lose access to any functionality or Content of that Service that requires a Paid Subscription."

Realize with Apple Music it is a subscription service. You rented the music, you did not buy it. Just like with a car rental, when the subscription ends so does your right to listen to the music.
