You will not be able to upgrade a «late 2011 MacBook Pro» (13”?) to Big Sur, but you might be able to upgrade it to 10.14 (Mavericks, I think).

You will not be able to do the upgrade through the Update Panel, but you should be able to find macOS 10.14 on the Mac App Store.

That Mac model can't be upgraded past High Sierra. 10.14 is Mojave, not Mavericks.
