Wireless charging stops working on iPhone 12 Pro Max

My iPhone 12 Pro Max stops charging wirelessly. I have to restart the phone. Then it works again, for a day or two. The problem is that I don't discover it isn't working until I get the "20% battery left" warning.

It seems like lots of people are having this problem, from what I read online.

I have the latest iOS, 14.4.

Do I need to get a new phone?

NOTE: This Apple.com "Communities" is making me select the device I'm asking about, but it doesn't offer iPhone 12 Pro Max (nor any 12) as an option, so I chose iPhone 11 Pro. Apple-You need to update your site!
