I live in an area that has no 5G yet. Can I continue to use the 4G Sim from my iPhone 5SE in a new iPhone 12Pro until the 5G network expands, without affecting performance of other functions (ie other than potential data download)?
Yes you can. You need to change that SIM card when your carrier can offer you 5G connection (if you want to accept that offer).
