My space bar on my Macbook Air is sticking... What can I do?

Let's work together to get the spacebar not to stick when pressed.


While this usually indicates a hardware issue, you may need to contact Apple Support to review your service options. We have a few things to check with you first:

  1. The first step would be to clean your MacBook Air. You can find Apple-approved methods under the 'Notebook computers' section here: How to clean your Apple products
  2. If we're mistaken and the spacebar is not physically sticking, but is repeatedly typing as if you're still pressing the spacebar(with no physical issues), we recommend a restart. Check out the section 'Restart' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  3. If any accessories are currently connected/paired with your Mac(besides the charging cable), we recommend disconnecting/unpairing to test for the same issue.
