Siri not available. Your Apple Watch is not connected to the Internet

Apple Watch Series 5 with Cellular.

Each day I walk our dogs using my Apple Watch and Airpod Pros to listen to podcasts or music.

I don’t take my iPhone with me. Just the Watch.

During the walk I use ‘Hey Siri’ to communicate through the Airpod Pros to my Watch to control the

audio, create reminders, control apps, etc. Never an issue.

Today I did a couple of Hey Siri’s and didn’t get a response.

At first I thought it was the wind or something else.

Then I looked at my Watch and the screen said ‘Siri not available. Your Apple Watch is not connected

to the Internet’. This has never happened before.

I came home and the Watch paired to my iPhone.

Siri worked then. I tried some other combinations.

Ultimately did a hard reset on the Watch. That seemed to fix it.

Any ideas as to what might have happened or what I should try if this happens again?

I had another occurrence a couple of days ago.

This time I had my paired iPhone with me.

Symptoms were the same. No response to requests for Siri.

Watch shows the same message about ‘... not connected to the Internet’.

Came back home where both the watch and the phone connected to our WiFi.

The phone had a working cellular connection. As well as the WiFi connection.

The phone and watch were Bluetooth connected.

The watch showed both WiFi and Cellular connection.

Tapped on the cellular icon in Control Center on the watch.

Toggled the slider for ‘Cellular’ off and then back on.

Siri started responding normally.

I had just ordered a Series 6 to replace this Series 5.

Hopefully, this problem will not occur on the Series 6.

We understand that you're unable to use Siri when you're not close to your iPhone as you see an alert that there isn't an internet connection.
