Location in iMessage

On my iPhone in messages if I click the information icon I can see that person location if we are sharing together. My friend does not have this option. Is there something that needs to be turned on for this feature to work? I’ve tried almost everything.

We’ve done that. It does not show the map in information. Only on find my iPhone app.

Share your location in the Messages app

Open the Messages app on your iPhone and select a message.
Select the name of the person at the top of the conversation.
Choose the information icon .
Select Send My Current Location. Your recipient will see your location on the map. Or choose Share My Location. Then choose the length of time that you want to share your location for.
