Hi willweaverwords,

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Rest assured that we'll do our best to assist you or get you pointed in the right direction.

We understand that you are in the process of removing the Keyboard Data (Chinese & Japanese) from the list of data to back up. We recommend updating your iPhone if you haven’t. While it isn't inherently assured that an update will resolve the issue, updating to the latest version of iOS for your device can help isolate potential software issues. Kindly secure a backup and update.

If you need further assistance, let us know if you used a Chinese or Japanese keyboard in the past.

Please keep us posted.

Take care!

There is nothing strange about these services, every MacOS can have them, they can be useful to anyone who reads/write Chinese, just uncheck the boxes so they do not show up in your Services menu.

I think this belongs to Apple's keyboards included with iOS rather than a "random third party". It has been raised here a number of times for a long while. I have not seen a way to remove it or any evidence that not doing so ever causes a problem. To see other posts you can do a search on those terms of the forum.

Hi CarlAVII,

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay in my response - I'm still getting used to the layout and functionality of the communities and missed your reply initially.

I followed the instructions you provided (thanks again) and am running current versions of the iOS and the MacOS. That didn't resolve the issue and I've subsequently replaced the phone through apple care for other reasons. It continues to present itself for backup and I continue to not back it up.

I also recently reformatted my Mac's 1TB Fusion Drive (2017, 27" 5K, Retina) and found that there are services to access the Chinese Keyboard which seems strange to me as I have never used a Chinese or Japanese keyboard. Before the reformat, an ex of mine installed Xcode (2018 perhaps?) on the Mac using an administrator profile and I'm wondering if that has altered my iCloud profile preferences in someway?

This isn't a critical issue but I would like to be able to turn off/remove/or revise my account if that's possible. Is there a different forum I should be reviewing or a different tool I should try (maybe something like Xcode but for dummies...)?

Screenshot of the default settings on my Mac are shown here.

Thanks again!
