What is in the "other" folder and how can I delete? I need to free up space and this folder is storing the most of WHAT??? It isn't highlighted so I can't figure out how to access it. PLEASE HELP I can't do any additional updates on computer. I have cleaned everything else out.

The Other Classification is a collection of File the do not qualify by the categories the OS understands ie Music, Videos, Photos, documents, iOS files etc. Everything else falls in the Other Category including cache files, crash logs and the list is long. The bottom-line, the " Other " can not deleted and under no circumstance should one try to alter is. Doing so, may render the OS corrupted , unstable and even non-functional.

Not ridiculous. The space used is a collection of things, apps installed by the User. They did not appear without the express consent of the User. Assistance has been offered by Volunteers to this community - ultimately the user is responsible to accept the advise or not.
It is holding the majority of the memory on my computer and I can't do any updates - I have cleaned everything else out. 433.98 GB IS MY OTHER FOLDER - that is ridiculous.
Run the free OmniDiskSweeper to find what files are taking up the space.
Other is not a folder, it's stuff Apple couldn't categorize, or Spotlight is corrupted.
