I had a sudden drop in my VO2Max, as calculated by my Apple Watch 3, of 10 points, overnight! Picked up this question thread from early 2020 when similar occurred to others, but this has now gone silent. Have all those who flagged the issue found a permanent fix? If so can you share this please? Thanks
I went back and checked. Found that I had been switched from a 1956 birthday to an '84. No idea how it happened. Some other info in my profile was also screwy. Adjusted it and went back to normal/previous reads. Dropped from 44-45 V02 to barely 30, now back up to 48-49.
I face the same problem. I compared the data in detail and noticed the changes is "Medications That Affect Hear Rate". Go to the Watch App -> Health -> Health Details. Then uncheck the Medications That Affect Heart Rate.

My VO2 Max is now pretty consistent at “above average” 34.5. I’m 70 next year so I’m trying to improve as best I can. Less food, less alcohol and more exercise. Hopefully some fun as well 😂🏴
Vo2Max is only measured in an outdoor walk or run or hiking workout.
Check to see if you have checked off any meds/prescriptions in your health profile--when my info got garbled it had me on beta blockers which might have been the source of the whole thing
My dramatic VO2 max happened the day after updating iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 14.7.1 and Apple watch 3 to watchOS 7.6.1
Could the drop be associated with the updates?
