US Cellular SIM lock

Bought iPhone 11 from guy, met at US Cellular store. Agent confirmed phone unlocked...login with my iCloud and Apple ID...get home phone says US Cellular is the carrier and SIM locked. Been back to store, called former owner of phone....called Apple.....US Cellular says phone is unlocked...Apple says locked??? Former owner has called US Cellular multiple times. What can we do now? US Cellular kinda refuses to do anything further!!!

You are in a very tough situation. I would hate to be in it.

  1. The readers of your post do not represent Apple. The responses that you may get here are from users of this forum just like you. We, therefore, cannot do anything to get your iPhone in the carrier unlocked status.
  2. You have already discussed this matter with Apple and the issue is not resolved.
  3. You have worked with US Cellular and they claim that the iPhone is unlocked however it is still not.
  4. That leads me to the previous owner. If you can get him to take the iPhone back then that will eliminate all the frustration that may accompany this journey of getting the iPhone carrier unlocked.

Those are just my thoughts.

The previous owner did take it back the first day and US Cellular told him it could take 120 days to be completely unlocked. They guy does feel bad but not bad enough to refund my money lol (I haven’t asked). I hate to keep pestering the previous owner so if worse comes to worse I can just try selling it to an US Cellular customer. Funny thing is last week a different person scammed me out of hundreds for an iPhone (payed then he blocked me)

That is not good at all. This is not the stream of luck that you want to be in and I feel bad for you. I wish you all the best from this point forward.

If US Cellular claims that it may take up to 120 days to complete the unlock AND 120 days have not elapsed then wait a few more days and see if the unlock goes through. You can check every few days to see if it worked. You wouldn't have to do this if the previous owner took the iPhone back. Yes, worst case scenario, you can attempt to sell it to a US Cellular customer.

Good Luck and be careful out there.
