Is customizing app icons in iOS 14 safe?

A few weeks ago, I've recently gotten a new phone (I have posted a previous question regarding iOS 14 and data transfer, you may visit my profile if you want to help me out!) with iOS 14 installed. I was really excited about it because I could finally customize icons to my liking, though I only customized four icons, those of the my commonly used apps: Twitter, Discord, etc. But lately I've noticed that my apps have been acting weird. Only the four apps with the shortcuts/custom icons used. Sometimes my shortcut would lag or won't load or take me to the app it's trying to open. Sometimes even other apps are affected, like my opening my Photos app would take me to the Weather app. Maybe it's a coincidence because the location icons pops out on my screen (next to the time) and I just accidentally clicked it?

I don't know if my new iPhone has been virused or some sort. I read from a website a few minutes ago that when you customize app icons, your iPhone could be jailbroken, but a lot of people are really into changing app icons so I'm not sure if these are just iPhone fads or coincidences or not.

Is changing app icons really safe or not?

Safe?

You may be confusing the old method of actually customizing your homescreen and icons which did indeed require you to jail-break the phone and this opens it up to real dangers, Indeed we do not discuss it here.

iOS14 allows you to create shortcuts to apps and the icon associated with the shortcut does indeed allow you to create a new icon, or more accurately select an icon and colour from a list.

So provided you have not jailbroken the phone you are safe. Fiddling with stuff you find in some hack sites may direct you to jailbreaking practices.
