AirPods don't work at the same time

I have the regular airpods and they were working perfect this morning but I tried to use them right now and only the left one worked. I placed them back in the case and then only the right one worked. I disconnect them and reconnected them to my iPhone but I am still only able to hear from one or the other. They both still charge but don’t work at the same time. I also do not hear the noise they make before my audio plays. I talked to apple support but was unable to fix this issue.
