reset Mail application to factory settings

Hi I'm running Big Sur on a 2019 MacBook Pro. My All Trash folder has disappeared and as hard as I've looked, I can't find it. How do I reset Mail to factory settings without losing all the saved messages I have?

I ended up chatting with Apple support and the answer was to go to the drop down to the right of Favorites and select the. 2 folders that were not selected All Trash and All Archives. That solved my problem. Thank you all for the support.

Hi ArgosyThePirate,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're not able to find "Trash" in your email. We certainly want to help get this resolved.

If you're using third-party email accounts, try removing those and adding them back to recover the missing trash folders. See how here: Add or remove email account in Mail on Mac

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.
